Join us for an engaging artist talk with artist Dean Habegger, presented by Artists on the Bluff, free for members of Artists on the Bluff and the Deer Path Art League!
Please join us for an inspiring artist talk with Dean Habegger as he shares his unique mixed media and organic materials artwork. Dean will discuss his materials, techniques, and the symbolic meanings behind his richly layered pieces—and, if time allows, he may demonstrate parts of his creative process.
Dean Habegger is a Kenosha-based artist known for his richly layered paintings, drawings, and mixed media assemblages. A graduate of Indiana University (BFA, BS in Art Education) and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (MFA), Dean works with both traditional and found materials—including organic elements like dried plants—to create textured, symbolic works that echo personal and universal themes.
With a career spanning over three decades and locations across the U.S., Dean has developed a distinct visual language grounded in personal iconography and evolving symbolism. His process often involves recycling older works through sanding, scratching, and repainting, allowing meaning to emerge from transformation. His organic materials serve as both visual elements and metaphorical signposts, bridging the natural world with the inner landscape.
